I recently wrote a blog about Purpose, Passion and Voice that raised an interesting question. This video will explain further:

Have many passions, live life passionately, but build a career, a business around a focused passion or an umbrella that will encompass those passions. Also, remember my earlier post about FOCUS. Once you take one passion, monetize it, and develop it to make money with little effort on your part, absolutely add the next passion to do the same!

Lastly, remember that some passions are just meant to be personal. Sometimes it’s just that you LOVE living life- I do! See, I love to exercise. I’ve even had people tell me I’d make a GREAT trainer (well I am a coach right?!), but working out is something I do for me.

How do you separate your personal and professional passions? Are you loving life and creating passion in your business? Are you creating a brand that allows you to bring different passions to life under the brand?

Focus everyday is one thing but I am thinking about a bigger, much more important type of focus. Do you know these people? Could you be one? I have a friend or two that I adore, but they are just like the Jamaicans in “In Living Color”. Remember in the 1990′s a TV show called In Living Color and they did these skits called “Hey Mon” (The Jamaicans, do you remember? The video of one is linked). That is the kind of focus I am talking about!

This is a great book about focus, can’t go wrong with Mark Victor Hansen right? I have decided to add it to my list again for getting my dang book done!

What are you going to do to re-focus effort into working yourself out of the job?

What are the 2 most powerful words we can say to our self? I AM. “I am” programs our current state of being. Whether in the negative or the positive, it sets up our body to experience what we are saying. Think about it. Did you wake up and say to yourself; “I am so tired,” or “I am refreshed and ready for the day?”

Sometimes without even realizing it, we can be our own worst critics and say things that our body then believes.

Do you say:

“I’m fat” or “I’m a lean, mean machine!”

“I’m broke” or “I’m attracting everything I need and more.”

What I have realized is that this often happens at an unconscious level. I have to:
1-stop – think consciously about what I have been thinking about
2-change it right then and there
3-feel the new I am statement in my body for a reality check

Brian Tracy says we need to “release the brakes!”

Here is a little recording excerpt from a piece I do when I speak in front of audiences:

How can you change your I AM statements today to reflect a more positive day? How are you feeling right now that might have been created by I AM statements?

I want to be able to dialogue with people, absolutely! I just like each of you want to feel respected for my viewpoint. So here is my pledge:

1-I promise to practice this MORe often, especially with people I feel closer too. You are the ones I often think can handle my strong opinoion and that’s not fair.

2-I also promise that if my opinion is super strong, I will post what I think on my wall or profile, but if you choose to jump in, you are fair game.

3-i wil also promise to take the 1 minute “time out” when I write a response due to an emotional reaction BEFORE I post it, and then ask myself, how should I rephrase this or not post at all?

What can you do to make sure that social media sites remain a place of positive interaction and sharing, even when we disagree?

I now I get it, immediate gratification feels good. And often we want the immediate result versus the one that will actually work. So we keep building new programs, making new “special offers” – hoping for those fast results. Think about how persistent you are as you watch this video:

See those calla lilies never gave up, and they are now reaping the rewards. Sometimes I think it’s easy to feel like they did over the last several years; tired, neglected, your heart and soul not nourished. Those things come when you are persistent.

I mentioned blogging as an example, persistence is key with blogging. And let’s face it, it’s NOT easy! Writing, doing a video, uploading, tagging, sending it out to the world. And it sits. Finally a friend may comment. BUT with persistence, by knowing who you are and what you have to offer the world, your voice can be heard and clients show up.

Irene Turner of Irene Turner at hOMe recently posted this on my facebook page:

“blog about inspirational ideas…I just landed a client…client says, we should get together…I say, yes, it’s important that we click as it’s a very intimate process to be in your home the way I am…client says, oh not a problem, we’ve been all over your blog and already love you and what you do (including the color you use say’s the wife)! Oh yea…that’s why I do that!”

That is why I love the work I do.

Some of you have a target market that just isn’t sexy-time to really think about who you want to serve. Ask yourself:

2-What types of people do I love communicating with?

Recently I posted on my Business page on Facebook:

Today’s’ Warrior-Preneur question is inspired by my sister Donna L. Johnson. Thanks Donna for the inspiration! Can you do a good job and be a consistently poor communicator as a entrepreneur?

Inspired by Donna L. Johnson, the Unemployed Entrepreneur Communication is Business isn’t it? I had to ask my fans of course Donna was game! Here are the comments from the fans of my page on Facebook:

Lee Lonitz Good question. I think ‘poor communicator’ is relative because many businesses and clients all communicate at different levels and rates. For me, as a fast-moving business my clients definitely want a rapid and direct line to communicate with me. For others, it may not take as much communication (e.g. an occasional update) to create an effective result and do a ‘good job.’ I’d be curious to see what the other Warrior-Preneurs think.

Haley Higginbotham Montgomery Sometimes your effectiveness as a communicator factors into whether or not people BELIEVE you can do a good job. If you don’t present yourself well with communication tools using the basics like correct spelling, good grammar, well-formed thoughts, etc, then it can hinder confidence in your other abilities.

Irene Turner Depends on your job…if you are a paper pusher or computer software geek and communication is not key for your work, yes…but most positions as an entrepreneur you must either promote your business, deal with a client or some act that at some point requires communication…so overall, I’d say no!

Rocky Maddex As an entrepreneur you can be a bad communicator. If you want to be successful though, communication skills are a Key to Success! It’s a skill like any other though and can be learned and improved upon. This does not mean you have to master all forms of communication though, and if you’ve read or listened to Crush It by Gary Vaynerchuck you’ll know what I”m talking about.

Chris Wagner I struggle with this all the time. I get very tongue tied and flustered. I definitely think that good communication skills will propel you to higher levels. It’s all about confidence.

Andrea Nelson Mueller I think you can succeed as a bad communicator if you KNOW that is a weakness for you. You can work your strengths and do a little more to make up for your lack of skills in verbal communication or writing. You can delegate and hire out to a certain degree, too, but you have to know which … See More areas should be delegated. And, overall, if your heart is good that will come through even if you’re not a smooth talker though as Haley said, building belief in you/your business depends largely on how you communicate.

What do you do to take time out? Do you have a daily ritual?
