Becoming your Bad-Assery self is hard work! Being The Elite in your business and industry is really hard work! I think I gave all my energy to my clients this week. All my creative energy, all my emotional energy, all my cheerleader energy, all my teacher energy. Like…ALLLLLL. Going through the process of stepping into your unique influential voice is HARD. And creating the marketing strategy and brand called YOU…whoa…harder.
So the work creates emotions…which is good.
Tears. (Yes, sometimes my clients cry.) Because they are finally seeing their greatness.
Laughter. (Yes of course we laugh in sessions.) Because growing is sometimes laughable.
Frustration. (At me? NO never…lolol) Because the work isn’t easy.
Joy. (Joy is bigger than happy, it swells inside.) Because it is finally clicking.
Fear. (Yeah…I know most feel this one.) Because success isn’t something they want to fear anymore.
Tears. (What again with the tears dangit!) Because dangit…they realize how Bad-AsseryTHEY are.
I hear you…thinking….”So what Ann I need to work with YOU to get Bad-Assery? To be The Elite in my industry?” Many of you? No. You’re not ready for what I can give you. (Of course if you think you are, let’s chat and see.) But most of you NEED to be willing to do two things if you want Bad-Assery:
1-Do the WORK. The hard shit, the stuff that you avoid.
2-Feel everything. For Bad-Assery to occur you have to be willing to emotionally connect with the process.
Bad-Assery comes from the willingness to be imperfect and vulnerable. Elite comes from stepping within…not looking outside for the answer.
Want to get started on your own? Then write. EVERYDAY. If you have no clue why, stay tuned.

What holds you back from your unlimited space and potential? At my monthly Warrior Women Wine and Wisdom event I asked this question as it’s been on my mind a TON lately. So much so I even wrote my guest blog at Showcasing Women about it, and here I am writing about it again! (Yes, the article over there is completely different and I will be expanding there over the next three months about the points I share….so it might be worth checking out if curious!)
After an amazing blind wine tasting and food, I asked the women: “What holds you back from YOUR unlimited space and potential?”
We spent hours digging deep. Getting real. Sharing the story.
Yeah…the story. The story we tell OURSELVES.
In my book, The Influence Factor, I talk about how important rewriting the story, even the LIES we tell ourselves, is to stepping into our most influential voice. At this event I heard, over and over, the stories…the lies…we can tell ourselves that we allow to LIMIT what we are capable of.
It is AMAZING how we can tell ourselves that people needs us so much, that we stay stuck. (WAIT…wouldn’t we be of greater service to them if we stepped into our unlimited potential?)
Or that they might leave us if we do. (WAIT…if they are truly a part of your support network, wouldn’t they cheer you on and support unconditionally?)
Or that they will hate us or leave us if we….(WAIT…oh geez, you get the point right?)
Maybe you don’t. Maybe you are saying right now…”YEAHBUTANNNNNNNNNNN!!!”
Stop…change that story. NOW.
Your unlimited space and potential is only limited by YOU.

Productivity: I am so much more productive when have so too much shit to do (yeah, get over it, I said the S word! If you are offended, just go check this out instead…giggles)! Are you like this? When I have very little to do, I cannot get going. I don’t do productive things like write every day. Yes writing is very productive, have you done my 30 day writing challenge yet? When I write, my blog gets posted. When I write new cool things go out to my newsletter list. When I write I create new programs.
When I am busy, the Warrior is ALIVE. Remember a Warrior chooses their missions and fates. So your warrior is alive when you have so much shit to do that YOU CHOOSE to do. Oh yeah, that is YUMMY as my friend Tambra Harck is famous for saying. ( Just had a moment of silence, as I embrace this realization even for myself.) Crazy part? When I have so much to do that I CHOOSE, the stuff I don’t isn’t so bad either. Sometimes even that stuff is completely off the table!!
The hard part for many is getting to a place where you CHOOSE, even as a leader, mother or business owner. To CHOOSE means your productivity goes up. Think about it. Ever get up and think to yourself: “oh geez, I have so much to do today, I will never get it all done.” How’s your productivity that day? Miserable? Exhausting? Draining? Frustrating? Thinking about what you do every day as a choice, versus a have to, or something that just kills the time. Could you feel differently if you said “I CHOOSE” instead of “I have to”?
Would your productivity increase if you did? Guess you will never know if you just thought “no”.

Do you ever wonder how do I get SO MUCH done ? lol- ok maybe not!
Do you ever feel like there needs to be at least two if not THREE of you? Hahahahaha! Wouldn’t that be nice. I have so many things I want to work on. I have all the raw footage from my 1.5 hour keynote that I’d love to turn into an online class. Heck, I’d love to just get a couple takes on my YouTube channel and website! I always have marketing to do…I would love to do more work with Dan, my coach. Oh got to get back to my list and sending some cool stuff. I’d love to get started writing my second book. But wait, my book site (geez so is my business site!) is behind in posts…
The life of an entrepreneur right?
And I didn’t even bring up my personal life; family, cooking, the 9000 square foot urban garden and the tomatoes that need pruning, exercise…sleep!
Then if you add SOS (a rare a special issue many of us have: Shiny Object Syndrome) distractions KILL me.
You relate?
Funny thing, I am ALWAYS asked how do I get SO MUCH done? (I laugh inside because I think of all the things I want to do and don’t get done) Then I realize, just in my coaching practice how much more I get done than other entrepreneurs I know. I think I can share why.
First, did you notice that I said “want to work on” versus “need to work on”? That is critical! I believe 100% in the mind/body connection, and you get more done when you WANT versus HAVE to do it.
Second, I don’t multi-task. Oh trust me as I said, SOS (shiny object syndrome ) is definitely a disease I have! I block out SMALL chunks of time, and actually SET a TIMER. Amazing what you can get done in 10 minutes of focused time!
Third, I believe that you ALWAYS focus on high payoff items first…and unfortunately it is often easier to focus on low payoff because they seem quicker and easier to do.
So, how do I get SO MUCH done? These tips help for sure! How do YOU get so much done?

It is time get away from the phrase; “live their dreams”, or ANY version of it in your marketing (“make your dreams come true”– “dream wedding” –“dream body” –blah, blah, blah!!). It’s so generic and over used ! There is NOTHING Bad-Assery about “I teach people how to live their dreams.” I also believe when people are disillusioned, lost, frustrated with their lives, the government, their jobs, etc… telling them you can show them how to live their dreams does not inspire them to work with you!
It is time to step to the next level based on your brand and TRIBE and really help them see what you can do for them.
Ask yourself:
1- Who is it I am CALLED to work for/with and what is it they really want?
2- What is it I do that helps them define dream, or have a great body, or be happier?
3- What do I do that makes me unique in my industry?
4- When I say: “live your dreams” what am I REALLY doing for my client/customer?
See, I can say: “I teach women entrepreneurs how to have their dream business.”
OR
I can say: “I teach high-achieving women business owners how to step up, step out and achieve higher levels of success by discovering their true potential and building unique and compelling story that calls their TRIBE.”
Oh yeah, I know some negative nellies out there are thinking it’s still generic…but you are NOT my TRIBE 😉
The second gets people to say things like this when I pre-qualify them as a potential coaching client: “Your presentation touched home, it was like you were speaking directly to me and I thought – that’s what I need. I have always been a self-fixer. If there was a problem, adapt-improvise-overcome. So I’m here.”
In one session we moved away from generic, bland, blah, blah, blah…and this client is JAZZED. Am I helping someone live their dreams – sure…but don’t sell dreams!
Where do you need to step away from generic “live their dreams” language in your marketing?
