Spark and Hustle, Tory Johnson and a Challenge for YOUR Business

Many of you know I attended Tory Johnson’s Spark and Hustle conference in Los Angeles( in cities all over America in 2011). This last week has been a flurry of positive energy, ideas, creativity, opportunity and growth.  Ok I did more than attend, I spoke, but I am not one of those speakers to roll in an hour before my presentation and leave as soon as it’s over! (Yes, I posted my presentation on YouTube in 3 parts, thank you Laurie Hurley for recording!) I hang out, network and participate. I learn. Even with my success, I take advantage of EVERY opportunity to LEARN. Then I evaluate what I need to do to make it happen.

There were some huge TAKE A WAYS even for me:

1-I share my personality, but not enough of my story. See, our stories matter, not for pity, for relate-ability.

2-I do not BRAG enough about what I have achieved. Tory herself stood on stage and said we as women need to get over this and shout our success from the mountain top! See, our successes are what often get us the press, the “foot in the door” to the places that help us get to the next level. Being proud of that success is critical. And we can share it in a loving way! HEY, by the WAY, I spoke on Tory Johnson’s, of Good Morning America, Women for Hire, and Spark and Hustles stage! 🙂

3-Like minded people REALLY matter. We need to surround ourselves with people that will push us to the next level! People who will not let us feel sorry for ourselves. People who will remind us we CAN do anything we set our minds to.

These are 3 CRITICAL pieces that we often forget about as business people. Many of you probably need to think about them as well.

Tory closed the 3 days and told EVERY person in the room to get their Twitter, LinkedIn  and Facebook Business page accounts up this week (boy, did I love hearing that. Make sure you check out my YouTube channel as to WHY you need them) See, later in the week she will send an email to the participants asking for them, and she will share and ask that we support each other by liking, connecting and following back! AWESOMENESS!

Then I thought wow- why are WE not doing that? You are each amazing people, and we could support each other’s goals by liking our business pages, connecting on Facebook, and following each other on Twitter.

So here is the challenge – Become a WarriorPreneur! See, my subscription for my ebooks etc. is – over there on the right? Join. When you do you will receive an email that will share with you how I am supporting your FACEBOOK PAGE and YOU (your Twitter account) on Twitter. I ask that you stay a WarriorPreneur in exchange for what I will do for you.

I am about giving to and BUILDING community – let’s see if we can build it bigger in 2011.

Are you in for this challenge? Let’s find out how many incredible people we can support this way- I’m in! Are you? If you are already participating, what do you think?

Marketing Online: A Smart Business Strategy

So many small business owners get on what I call the “marketing roller coaster.” One day they’re saying, “ Oh, my God, I need to market myself more.” Then they’re climbing that huge hill on the roller coaster saying “market, market, market, market.” After they eventually get to the top and clients come in, they’re enjoying the rush all the way down the hill, and then “Holy cow! I don’t have clients!” and it’s back up the hill!

Social networking helps you get off the roller coaster. It’s more like tending a garden — with consistent small efforts and attention, the seeds you plant will bring in a regular crop of clients. If you take small steps each day, your garden will flourish. This is my short story of how social media saved my business:

The truth is: social networking is a core business strategy. It’s not a fad, it’s not going away anytime soon.

Here are some interesting facts:
•    LinkedIn was launched in May 2003. It has over 75 million registered users and 2.25 million login weekly.
•    Facebook was launched in February 2004. It has over 500 million users and over 60% of them log in daily. The fastest growing population in Facebook is women ages 54-69. Over 70% of mom play games like Farmville on facebook.
•    YouTube was launched in February 2005. There are over 2 billion videos watched a DAY. As of October 2010 over 1 billion subscriptions on YouTube-those are people asking to get notified when your channel loads a video!
•    Twitter was launched in July 2006. There are over 100 million registered users and 40% login daily to the tune of over 3600 tweets per second. Regular users tend to be affluent, making more than $250,000 a year on average. Twitter indexes to search engines, so when used strategically, it expands your exposure.
The Key to your success? Know your target market and then develop a strategy to show up where they are. For example:
•    Are you a speaker or coach where trust in important? Then build your YouTube presence.
•    Do you work primarily with fortune 500 companies? Spend your time in the right LinkedIn groups.
•    Are your customers moms? Get on facebook.
•    Do you sell luxury or high priced items? Twitter is smart for you.

Remember, network online like you do in person and it will build your business.

Invest the time in your marketing online and it will reward you! Are you planning your marketing strategy for next year?

Video Marketing and Your Business: Using YouTube

In January this year I did this video, it’s important to watch to gather the context of this post.

Do you know that as of August 2010, 2 BILLION videos a day are watched on YouTube alone (not counting any other videos online. Getting over yourself and using video is incredibly important for your goals these days. It develops trust and credibility even faster than your blog can.

In July of this year, after loading videos regularly, but not really paying attention to what I can do with social media and YouTube (yes YouTube is a social media channel, you can comment, like, have favorites, friends and subscribe. You can market to those you are connected with as well), I decided it was time to build a strategy for success. So here is what I did:

1-I purchased this program ($10 a month) a steal!  TubeTool Box is a phenomenal time saver

TubeToolBox does target searches for the people I want to connect with for me, all I do is load the phrases, tell it to start and it finds 1000’s of connections for me that are a fit with my target market(it’s running as a write this, 355 my potential people as of this morning). Then, to make it even better, it will auto send the friend invites for you! The program is BRILLIANT because it knows YouTube’s parameters so you don’t get flagged as spam.  My friends have increased from 59 to 1630. My subscriptions (which I am not even trying hard yet) are up from 16 to 284!

2-I worked with some amazing friends of mine to develop a “video viewing program”. This program drives people to watch your videos to watch. Let’s face it, more views mean more opportunity. This program invites some of those 2billion views a day to YOUR videos. The result: My views are up in the 1000’s! I have also received 2 paid speaking engagements, a webinar and I am part of the YouTube Partner program which gives me a share of income from Google ads. So far the ads alone is bringing in about $200 a month! There are programs that do it for about $50 a month, but I think we have made ours quite affordable and do-able, (starting at $10 a month) so try it!

YouTube is a speeding train. Be the ENGINE of that train in your industry. Figure out the kinds of videos yuu can do product reviews, stories, fun, inspiration to attract your market to your product or service.

What is my point? YouTube works as a social media sales and marketing tool. But there are programs out there to focus your efforts to make it successful. It’s time to think about your marketing videos. Oh and I hope you will subscribe to my You Tube channel while you are there!
