A cool tool to get more writing done

I love this tool and I give a few tips to really make it work!

Now, I use this tool for blogging and writing my books, but you could use it to draft emails, write a presentation, talk out an idea, almost anything!

I will be sure to download this when I get my iPhone.  I have an ipad but the first version….not sure it has the ability to record.

OMG! so glad to hear about Dragon Dictation. I am immediately going to my apps store and adding it to my repertoire. Thanks Ann, what a great app!

haven’t heard of a Dell version Brandy, I have really just loved using it

whoo hoo! Lets have an ipad party! I wasn’t one to convert either, but the product is amazing! If you want other app recommendations I have a few.

lol! Brenda that is funny! When I was a kid mom made us play the “see who can be quiet the longest game”

I’m ecstatic about this!  I’ve heard you mention Dragon before, but when I googled it, all I found was a $$ program.  Now, I’m still listening to the video and it’s already downloaded on my iphone.  Unfortunately, hubby heard that it is available on the phone, so I can’t talk him into me getting an ipad.  This is brilliant for me as I’m constantly away from my computer.  Now if there was only an app that put a mute button on my child as she’s usually in the car with me on my long rides.

I’m so excited! I’m getting my IPad Monday and this will be my first app for my new toy! what fun and I loved the way your caressed your IPad- I can envision feeling the same way. I guess I am  slowly being dragged into the dark side… it will be my first apple product.

Ooooooh, I love this concept! I don’t have an iPad or an iPhone though, so I guess I will have to get one! There have been many times in the past when I have wished I had a recorder with me so that I would be able to remember my thoughts, my ideas, etc. so I know I would use this and enjoy it as much as you obviously do! Christmas is almost here, I wonder if I could drop a hint to my husband about “needing” an iPad! Thank you for sharing this amazing new app!

Looks like a cool feature. Definitely useful for long drives when your mind is going a million miles a minute but can’t write any of the thoughts down.  Need to check out the android phone app, alas since I’m not connected to an iPad of IPhone. One more reason to add to the “pro” list for an iPad.

Ann you looked like you were having too much fun – I can tell you love this tool! I haven’t tried it yet and it sounds intriguing. I wonder if there is a version for a Dell Tablet? I’ll be checking that next. Thank you for the fun and informative video! Brandy :-)

Great question Robbie! It is true text! So yes

  • http://www.save-your-breath.com Rowena Starling

Yeah, they have a really cool commercial on TV.  I could see that it is a winner.  I trust it allow you to edit…?

Thanks, Ann.  Great recommendation.  I’ve been using the Dragon Dictation app for several weeks now, and I love it, too.  It’s SO handy, giving me a transcript of any comment, wherever and whenever a thought strikes.  Then with proofing for typos, I can share it on SoMe or email it to my desktop or laptop for inserting into documents, correspondence, and blogs.  Which brings up a question:  Will WordPress accept any of the formatting that Dragon Dictation applies?

I share a droid option below with Imogen :)

Sounds wonderful. However, I need to win an IPAD or maybe they will come out with one for the Android phones. I did find one that says it’s powered by Dragon.

Going to go download it to my iPod right now! THanks for this. Gotta love all these free apps…I wrote my book by walking in the woods and dictating into a tape player (I know I know OLD school) then going home and transcribing. I might have finished in 1/2 (or more) the time with this tool!

I LOVE Dragon dictation on my iPhone – thanks to you. Makes writing blog posts SO much easier. This video makes me laugh – you are like I am about my iPhone. We are slightly geeky I think lol. You are so right though – it gets interesting if you don’t enunciate and articulate. I had not learned those instructions though thanks for the tip. Also very important to set for the right accent ;)

lol! Well, people talk on their phones and we hear one conversation, we hear their ipod though their headphones! I even use this walking around in my office and in my living room at night when something hits me!

  • http://www.warrior-preneur.com Ann Evanston

most of them you can “set” the language, I’d look for that feature!

I have Dragon on my iPhone and it’s super cool. I’m not an “on the road” user as you describe, Ann. I live and work in NYC and ride subways and buses to get everywhere. Dictating into my phone might look funny / annoy people on public transportation, but then again, you see & hear everything here in NY so maybe I’ll do it.

  • http://www.imogenragone.com Imogen Ragone

Thanks, I will try that out. Already played with Dragon Dictation on the iPad – fun, and I think it will definitely be useful.

Oh I am totally looking forward to trying this. Really hope it can cope with a British accent! So many of the voice activated phone systems can’t, and I just don’t sound American. I’ll report back later after I have tried it out!

Watching your video reminded me of all the times I am driving and want to capture a post or even just ideas.  I’m an Android person, too, so your recommendation to Imogen on the Flex T9 is perfect.  It’s not free but at $5 for the download and it being powered by Dragon Dictation, it seems like a great deal.  Plus, I’ll be able to capture those ideas that slip by when I’m driving.

  • http://www.warrior-preneur.com Ann Evanston

My understanding Imogen is the FlexT9 is the version for Android, far superior to the Google Talk: http://www.lehsys.com/2011/02/android-finally-gets-dragon-naturallyspeaking-as-the-flext9-application/

Very cool except I don’t have an ipad or iphone.  I’m a droid person.  Maybe there’s an app for me.  I’ll have to search that out.  I’m not a techy person.  For the time being, I will keep my notebook handy

  • http://www.imogenragone.com Imogen Ragone

Absolutely love this tip, Ann. As I’ve just started to blog myself I can see this being extremely useful. I will download it onto my iPad as soon as I’ve finished with this comment. I wonder if it’s available for Android so I can use it on my phone too???
